It’s a Sunday morning. I’ve got somewhere to be, but not yet. I feel as though I have lots to say, but much of it is stuff I imagine you don’t need to hear. Let’s see how we do this week.
It is to my immense regret that I missed opening night at the new Kraken last night. It turns out that if you’re a hot girl like me (IBS sufferer) you pay for every year you’ve survived past 25 with an extra two hours of hangover. I did get pretty far into writing a new tune, which will hopefully form an outlet for all of the feelings I have demurred from sharing in this space since… well, perhaps more on that later. This has been the first Saturday to pass without obligation for me in several weeks, and will be the last for several more. I’m listening to the first Gorillaz album for the first time in more than 20 years and it feels like things are changing; I’m rolling with it.
This seems like a good opportunity to get some practical info out of the way:
-the next iffin show is on Saturday, April 20th at 5 Iron Golf in Capitol Hill, and is ALL AGES. Full details are on the Eleanor-made flyer below.
-A new single, “DOCUMENT OF DESCENT,” is available for streaming and download on the iffin bandcamp.
-A new EP, HOMAGE TO CATATONIA (PICARO TWO), has been announced for release on May Day 2024. I don’t know what physicals will look like for that, but it’ll be on bandcamp.
-iffin is also playing an early show at The Crypt in Olympia, WA as a part of the yearly Art Walk on Friday, April 26th. music starts at 6:30.
-Rat Paws is playing Darrell’s Tavern on Saturday, April 27th with Sun Tunnels, Dunzo Lesco and Double or Muffin.
Yes, that’s a copy/paste from the last post. Don’t give me shit, the stats say a handful of you are new.
I think the transition to springtime is always a deeply disconcerting one to me internally. Better weather means greater visibility, which I’m still conditioned deep down in my spine to associate with greater potential for danger. I guess I’ve always been pretty paranoid at the best of times. Lately it’s the only thing I’ve been able to think about. Believe me, I wish I had something else to write about. Faith is a very difficult thing to maintain; no one understands this like the faithful.
That said, there’s lots I’m looking forward to as well; it’s all up there on that list. I’m about to head out to rehearse with a band that hasn’t seen the light of day since before the pandemic, so I’m sensing more hangovers in my future. That’s all for now.
